We received the Lull mattress and slept on it for a few weeks. This post contains our honest review on the mattress and its ratings for the top five features we believe are most important to know before making a mattress purchase: quality, cooling, motion transfer, support and value.
QUALITY – Materials & Construction
The Lull mattress has 3 separate layers. The top layer is a 1.5″ layer of memory foam infused with a cooling gel polymer, which helps distribute your weight and keep you cool. The middle layer is a transition 1.5” layer made from proprietary foam, along with a 7” dense polyurethane support foam at the bottom as the base layer, designed to help with proper spinal alignment during sleeping.
Here is a video showing some of the testing that Lull does:
COOLING – Does it Sleep Hot?
We found that the Lull mattress sleeps cool, as many mattresses that have the gel infused top layer often do. Their top memory foam layer is designed specifically to disperse your body heat throughout the mattress. I found their claim of helping the “heat flow freely away from you” true, as my body didn’t get excessively hot throughout the night, as can happen sometimes with some deep-sinking memory foams. This is memory did not sink excessively.
MOTION TRANSFER – How it Absorbs Impact
The motion transfer on this mattress was similar to most foam mattresses. Even with my straight-up back plopping on the bed after a hard day at work, my wife was minimally affected. Also, her morning slumber consistently was left undisturbed as I woke up earlier than her to go to work. A rested wife = a happy husband.
SUPPORT – Spinal Alignment
My wife tends to like a softer/cushier mattress, while I like a medium-firm feel. This mattress seemed to satisfy both our needs by being slightly on the softer side, due to the memory foam top layer. I felt that their claims of memory and specialty foams did help with both lumbar and neck support, although this can also greatly depend on a proper pillow.
VALUE – Price & Performance
The value of the Lull mattress is great. It has the comfort and quality as majority of the top brand mattresses at a lower cost. The majority of the Queen mattresses that we have reviewed have been over $1,000, while the Queen Lull mattress comes in at $850.
Smell Dissipation – Our mattress took 6-7 days to completely get rid of the smell. Pretty strong overall.
Firmness – We give this a 6 out of 10 when tested against other memory foam mattresses. Medium Firmness.
Company – The company was very easy to work with. Their customer service and trial periods are very good.
Reviews – The Lull mattress has over 2,600 reviews and has a 4.7 out of 5 star rating.
