The Aviya Mattress is a hybrid innerspring coil and foam mattress. It is an interesting mix with a nice plush feel that seems to take the best from both worlds of mattress materials. My wife loved the plush comfortable feeling with the top upholstery foam layer that gives it a really unique feel from other foam mattresses out there. I liked the 3 options of firmness they give you, which allows you to choose how firm you want your mattress.
The post below contains our honest review on the mattress and its ratings for the top five features we believe are most important to know before making a mattress purchase: quality, cooling, motion transfer, support and value.

QUALITY – Materials & Construction

The Aviya mattress has 4 major parts.

  • 3 Top Foam Layers (comes in 3 options of firmness)
    1. 1” of Top Cooling Foam layer
    2. 1” of No-Sag Comfort Foam layer
    3. 1” of Support Foam layer, which helps lumbar support and other pressure points.
  • Foam Edges – A 3” foam encasement around the edges of the mattress, for better edge support.
  • Innerspring Coils – Gives it that “springy” feeling
  • Stability Layer – 1” layer to help transfer weight evenly.

This really is an interesting feel of both the bounciness of a traditional innerspring mattress, and the soft lush feeling of a foam mattress. When ordering, you can also choose from 3 options (firm, luxury firm, or plush/soft). These options change the density of the foam. We chose the Luxury Firm, as do 80% of their customers, just to stay in the middle.
Here’s a video that shows the story of Aviya.

COOLING – Does it Sleep Hot?

Heat is a major issue for me, as I need to feel cool at night to be comfortable. I found that this mattress did an excellent job of doing just that. The blend of materials seems to allow for good airflow throughout the night, and I did not experience hot spots when shifting sleeping positions at night.

MOTION TRANSFER – How it Absorbs Impact

As it contains an innerspring, the Aviya does have a good bounce to it. Has a totally different feel from most foam-based mattress on the market today. I didn’t dare belly flop on this bed with my wife asleep…must…not….wake…sleeping…mommy. But a gentle lay down while your partner is sleeping would not be overly noticed with the Aviya.

SUPPORT – Spinal Alignment

As my wife is a side-sleeper, she likes a cushier feeling, whereas I prefer a slightly more firm feel. As we got the medium firmness option (luxury firm), I think we were both pleased with the selection. I was able to sleep on my back with sufficient and comfortable lumbar support, while she was able to switch from side to stomach at night while still getting that plush foam feeling.
Also, this mattress has that 3” edge encasement, allowing for great edge sitting, or edge sleeping, without feeling like you are going to fall or roll off. This is important to some people. I like to tie my shoes while sitting on the bed, and my wife likes to sleep on her side close to the edge. That extra edge support gives it a more quality feel, and doesn’t excessively sink in like some foam mattresses.

VALUE – Price & Performance

The value of the Aviya mattress is great. Although containing a unique blend of materials has remained competitive in pricing, coming in under $1,000, while most the top brands come in right around $1,000.

Smell Dissipation – Our mattress took 1-2 days for the smell to dissipate.
Firmness – We give this a 7 out of 10 when tested against other foam hybrid mattresses. Medium Firmness.
Company – The company was very easy to work with. Their customer service and trial periods are very good.
Reviews – The Aviya mattress has over 100 reviews and has a 4.7 out of 5 star rating.
