We have received the Tuft & Needle mattress and have been sleeping on it for a couple weeks now. This post contains our honest review on the mattress and its ratings for the top five features we believe are most important to know before making a mattress purchase; quality, cooling, motion transfer, support and value.
QUALITY – Materials & Construction
The Tuft & Needle mattress is made with two main layers. The top layer is made for comfort and is a 3.0″ layer of polyfoam. Polyfoam is short for polyurethane foam, not to be confused with memory foam, although they are similar. The bottom layer helps with the foundation and support. This layer is 7.0″ of base support polyfoam. These foams, called T&N Adaptive® Foam, are unique to Tuft & Needle and were engineered based on customer feedback to help with comfort and support.
COOLING – Does it Sleep Hot?
Tuft & Needle pride themselves on having a mattress that will keep you cool at night. And we personally agree with their claim. Their foam is very breathable and helps to disperse heat away from your body instead of keeping it around you. The top support layer doesn’t sink in too much and is designed to keep you closer to the surface to avoid heat pockets.
MOTION TRANSFER – How it Absorbs Impact
The motion transfer on this mattress is also very well done. We can get in and out of bed without waking each other up due to the ability of the mattress to minimize bounciness.
SUPPORT – Spinal Alignment
Although this mattress excels in cooling and motion transfer tests, we feel that it is only average in its support system. Tuft & Needle claims that this mattress is ideal for sleepers of any size or weight. We’ve had some mornings where we woke up with a sore back, and some morning where we woke up feeling great. We do think that the support on this mattress will be a personal preference for everyone.
VALUE – Price & Performance
The value of the Tuft & Needle mattress is one of the best reasons to purchase this mattress. It has the comfort and quality as majority of the top brand mattresses at a much lower cost. Majority of the mattresses that we have reviewed have been over $1,000, and all of the prices for every Tuft & Needle mattress size have consistently been under $1,000.
Here is a Tuft and Needle video that shows why their mattress is such a good value.
Smell Dissipation – Our mattress took 1-2 days to completely get rid of the smell.
Firmness – We give this a 7 out of 10 when tested against other foam mattresses. Medium Firmness.
Company – The company was very easy to work with. Their customer service and trial periods are very easy to work with.
Reviews – The Tuft & Needle mattress has over 45,000 reviews and has a 4.7 out of 5 star rating.
